A violent aura filled the air.
It carried a faint metallic tang, like a corpse freshly minced into meat, or a mecha burned to its operational limit. Aggressive. Intense.
Overwhelming.
That was the scent of pheromones unique to an S-class Alpha.
But Lu Chi, with his long, silver hair, noticed none of it.
As a Beta, his physiology made it difficult for him to perceive so-called pheromones. The only reason he knew the unfamiliar Alpha in front of him, kneeling over there with his head lowered, was in heat…
…was because the moment he glanced down, he saw the other man’s conspicuously aroused state. He couldn’t smell the pheromones, but the physical reaction was straightforward enough.
For the first time in a very long while, Lu Chi felt as though his eyes had been spiritually tainted.
Instinctively, he turned to leave, intending to exit the rather impolite scene of furious arousal and wait for the system, which was currently “missing due to explicit content”, to come back online, but…
The next second, the young man, half-kneeling beside a metallic table, suddenly exploded into motion, looping an arm around his wrist and yanking him back. The Alpha’s strength was terrifying. Caught off guard, Lu Chi was seized from behind and slammed hard against the table.
A dull clang rang out.
The Beta’s long hair spilled loose as he was forced down. His equally pale cheek was crushed against the icy metal surface; his lean back, startlingly thin, twisted into an impossibly elegant curve at the waist.
The diamond ring on his ring finger scraped against the metal.
He heard the man behind him interrogate coldly, without emotion:
“Who sent you?”
“…”
Clearly, he had just transmigrated straight into the middle of a plot point. The man pinning him down spoke in an icy voice, his grip merciless, yet Lu Chi could still detect the faint heat in his breathing.
The other party had obviously lost some rationality, and his body was tense. The symptoms closely resembled the legendary “drug-induced forced heat,” but…
Lu Chi wasn’t particularly fond of head-on confrontation, so he calmly said, “The system sent me.”
“…”
Silence fell, and Lin Jingsi narrowed his eyes slightly. His pupils, blurred from the drug, contracted, looking indifferent, as if unaware that his vision was gradually fading. Staring at the silver blur before him, he asked flatly, “The… system?”
“A senile orange cat,” Lu Chi hummed in confirmation. “Let me go, and I’ll have it do a backflip for you.”
“It leaks a little when it flips. Warm and considerate.”
“…”
He had quite the nerve!
After a moment of silence, Lin Jingsi gave a faint laugh, asking, “You think just because this is the restroom on the Floating Arena Island, I wouldn’t dare kill you?”
From outside came wave after wave of cheering, as if on cue.
Lu Chi hadn’t even had time to reply before the Alpha swiftly drew a pistol, and the cold black barrel clicked against his temple. A silencer was mounted on top. Lu Chi’s pupils contracted reflexively, his heartbeat spiking.
Bang!
The scent of gunpowder instantly flooded his nose.
What followed was the sight of the metal table dented and smoking.
Lin Jingsi tilted his head and drew a heavy breath. Firing the gun hadn’t eased his agitation. Instead, it made his teeth itch, the ferocity in his bones growing more intense.
When others went into heat, they wanted to mark someone, but when he was forced into heat by drugs, he only wanted to kill.
“Last time,” the young man said, lowering his gaze, voice utterly devoid of emotion. “Who sent you?”
If he didn’t answer, he would really blow his head off.
And yet, the long-haired Beta did not respond.
His face was turned to the side, features obscured by messy strands of hair. His wrists, forced behind his back, were slim and sharp like withered vines, trembling slightly as though frightened speechless by the shot just fired.
He looked fragile.
Pitiful.
After a long pause, Lin Jingsi finally heard a faint voice.
“I…”
Lin Jingsi stilled. He felt something cool and soft brush his palm, and his throat bobbed involuntarily. As a lifelong virgin, he was unfamiliar with the sensation, more unfamiliar still with his own physical reaction.
Frowning, he relaxed his guard for the first time and leaned down to hear more clearly near the Beta’s lips.
“What did you say…?”
Lu Chi’s leg suddenly hooked upward, locking around the Alpha’s body and twisting hard.
Unprepared for the sudden move, Lin Jingsi was thrown off balance, giving Lu Chi the leverage to break free. The man instinctively raised his gun, but the Beta reacted faster, kicking the weapon clean out of his hand. With a sharp twist of his waist, he flipped his body in an astonishing arc.
A heavy thud echoed as they rolled together onto the carpet. The young man rose to one knee, his long, powerful legs scissoring tightly around the Alpha’s neck.
One more movement, and he could snap it in an instant.
Their bodies were pressed flush together, and Lu Chi exhaled softly. After a moment, he said in a calm voice:
“I said, you hurt my hand.”
“…”
Lin Jingsi’s vision had completely faded by now, and he could barely make out vague outlines.
And yet his breathing deepened.
He felt…
Like fine winter snow. Or cool mint. Light and icy as it seeped into his nose, soothing… yet stirring up another kind of hunger entirely.
The Alpha fell silent for a moment. Then suddenly, he tilted his head back, his sharp nose brushing very deliberately against Lu Chi’s thigh. After that, expressionless, he slid upward and took a slow sniff.
His nose bumped against the zipper.
It looked almost like…
As if he were performing an indecent act.
Lu Chi, who had been in the middle of fighting:
“…???!”
He frowned abruptly, coming back to himself and rising to step back. Under the bright lights, Lu Chi finally saw the unfamiliar Alpha’s face clearly.
The other man was quite young. His short black hair was parted and fell loosely around his forehead. His features were handsome yet fierce, carrying an unmistakable air of danger. Dressed in a pure black high-collared combat uniform, hisdeep green eyes resembled those of a wolf, cold and unfathomable.
He was half sitting up, staring fixedly in Lu Chi’s direction, like a beast locking onto its prey.
From outside came wave after wave of cheers. At the same time, Lu Chi caught sight of the identity badge hanging at the man’s chest.
[Federation Academy – Lin Jingsi]
The familiar name made him freeze instantly.
Lin Jingsi.
The “heir of the Lin family” from his previous world.
The familiar number that had spammed his screen with [Waiting for you].
And… the same initials.
LJS.
Lu Chi thought of Liang Jiashu, whom he had just parted from, and for once, drifted off for two whole seconds. For an S-class Alpha like Lin Jingsi, even a 0.1-second mistake was enough to turn defeat into victory on a mecha battlefield. Yet he, too, remained where he was, equally rare in his distraction, for two seconds. After a moment, he suddenly spoke.
“You’re an Omega?”
In this world, only Alphas and Omegas emitted pheromones. Only A and O could mark each other and form a deep bond. Lu Chi’s scent was faint, almost imperceptible, yet incredibly pleasant. Lin Jingsi subconsciously wanted to memorize it, so he reached out and grabbed Lu Chi’s leg, sliding his hand upward, his voice devoid of emotion.
“What’s your name? Which academy are you from?”
“This is the S-class battle zone lounge. In the entire Federation Academy, only fourth-year Alphas are allowed in. Do you know a fourth-year student? Are you someone’s family member? Friend? Relative?”
…Even at the first meeting, the urge to dig up his background was just as strong.
The young man’s handsome face remained expressionless, yet that dark, damp, ghostlike aura felt eerily similar. Only those deep green eyes were colder than Liang Jiashu’s black ones.
“Are you checking my household registration?” Lu Chi paused, then raised a brow, his tone relaxing.
However, Lin Jingsi narrowed his eyes sharply, asking, “Who did you mistake me for?”
“……”
His vision went completely dark.
But his body, exceptionally trained, remained. Caught off guard, Lin Jingsi suddenly reached out, seized Lu Chi’s long, powerful thigh, and forcibly pulled him into his lap. His fingers traced upward, silently brushing over the boy’s slender, resilient waist before capturing his soft hand. Ignoring the struggle, he felt along to the hard, oversized ring on his left ring finger.
The air fell silent.
Forced to sit in his lap, Lu Chi heard him say in an unreadable tone, “You have a partner.”
A pause.
And then, Lin Jingsi continued, “Or just someone you use to vent?”
Lu Chi paused, then let out a short laugh at the inexplicable lunacy.
Not hearing an answer, Lin Jingsi’s broad palm tightened at his waist as he spoke indifferently, “The way you wrapped your legs around me just now was skilled. When I bumped into you, you didn’t retreat. Your first reaction was to push forward.”
“You do that often with him? Or with them?”
“……”
Lu Chi had no idea how the atmosphere had shifted from life-and-death to something bordering on explicit, ah!
But as he stared into Lin Jingsi’s eyes, he noticed the faintest loss of focus in those pupils, as if he were blind. Seeing that, Lu Chi suddenly smiled faintly, his voice equally neutral. “You’re blind and still concerned about whether a stranger has bed partners,” he said. “Are you that bored?”
Lin Jingsi fixated on the key point, gripping his hand tighter. “So there is one.”
“How many do you have? What do you like?”
Lin Jingsi felt as though a strange fragrance was enveloping his mind. The drug’s effects should have long since passed. After all, raised by the Lin family from childhood, he had been injected with resistance agents against induced heat. Today’s incident was an accident, but not entirely unexpected. Once he uncovered who was behind it, he would eliminate them.
And yet, at this moment, Lin Jingsi felt unable to stop.
He couldn’t stop talking, and he couldn’t stop the physiological response either.
Though he had never shown interest in it before, and he couldn’t even see the boy’s face clearly, his body clung tightly to the person in his arms, as if some subconscious instinct urged him to hold on at once.
The boy in his arms seemed to smile. After a moment, somewhat helplessly, he said, “Let go of me first.”
Lin Jingsi was certain they were strangers. So that familiar tone and practiced reaction…
Were meant for someone else.
Lowering his gaze without joy or sorrow, he held the diamond ring. After a long pause, he suddenly pressed a conspicuous gray button beside the table. The semi-transparent open lounge instantly sealed shut, hovering into the shadows and cutting off all sound.
The long-haired boy stiffened.
Then, his pants’ zipper was torn open without warning.
………………………..
The simulated training island floated within space.
Star Calendar Year 773, December. The Interstellar Federation Academy’s once-every-four-years Mecha Combat Tournament had begun. The enormous oval seating encircled the island as countless students in their respective academy uniforms screamed excitedly in unison, shouting the same name.
On the giant screen above, the live broadcast commentators were speaking excitedly:
“Just yesterday, Lin Jingsi stormed a 3A-class wormhole simulation battlefield alone, clearing it in 11 hours and 21 minutes and breaking the record! And he’s only twenty-four!”
“In another six months, this mecha superstar will undergo his second differentiation. I’ve heard countless betting houses have already opened wagers on whether he’ll achieve dual S-class mental strength and restore the former glory of the Federation!”
Well, that was a sensitive topic, so another commentator laughed and smoothly changed direction. “It’s still too early to talk about that. Why not guess what kind of surprise Student Lin will bring us today?”
“On the first day of the Federation’s live combat tournament, all battlefield sequences are randomized. Only the top-ranked contestant by points gets to choose first and officially open the event. In just two hours, the students here will finally see this dazzling campus idol in person.”
The screen rapidly scrolled through the list of participants. One commentator happened to glance at a line.
[Lu Chi – Beta]
“Did I see that wrong?!” He blinked.
“There’s actually a Beta competing this year?! And a freshman at that?!”
“A Beta?!” The other commentator paused, then instinctively objected. “Betas can’t perceive or wield mental power like Alphas, nor can they soothe a frenzied Alpha like an Omega! On what grounds would they compete?!”
In the interstellar ABO era, a Beta incapable of manipulating significant mental strength was no different from being useless. Quiet and unremarkable, they were often synonymous with mediocrity or oddity, like fuel that kept the high-tech society running, unnoticed and unvalued.
The commentator shook his head, tinged with arrogance and disdain. “Probably just here to make up numbers. Or to repair mechas and earn tuition.”
“After all, the Betas admitted to the Federation Academy are all specially recruited commoners.”
“Dirt poor.”
How could they possibly pilot a mecha?
………………………….
The “dirt-poor” Lu Chi suddenly lifted his head, unsure how things had developed into this situation.
The lounge released a mist with calming properties.
Under the bright lights, he was still being forcibly held in Lin Jingsi’s arms, kissed clumsily from above. The sealed room cut off all outside sound. After a moment, the long-haired Beta’s knees were parted, and in the so-called “kneeling” pose trending online, he was forced down onto the carpet.
The young Alpha was below him, gripping his legs, his breathing hotter than ever before.
“Open up,” his hoarse voice said.
“Sit on my face.”
T.N: Well, that’s one hell of a proposal :)) Also, system cat, where the hell are you? Lu Chi is in dire need of help. Where’s the plot? What is the plot even??! Welcome to the second world, ya’ll!
